Florida was taken quite literally by storm in August and September when four major hurricanes devastated our state. Damage was wide spread and in some-areas-eatastrophie. Homes were-destroyed. There is unemployment since much of the citrus crop was lost and many small businesses have had to close because of severe damage to buildings. Everywhere we look we see the effects of these storms.

But praise the Lord! All the homes of the staff withstood the storms with comparatively little damage and our EBI building was left completely unharmed. We did not lose a single book! How we thank God for His protection.

Gary and Bernie Hilliker

Gary and Bernie Hilliker came to EBI in 1986 following fifteen years of church planting missionary service in Venezuela. Gary was asked to be General Director and served in that capacity until 2001 when he became Director of International Development. Bernie has been the office manager since coming to EBI. Since June, Gary and Bernie have made two trips to Tennessee, and trips to Alabama, Mexico, and Bolivia representing EBI. They will be traveling to Argentina and to two more conferences in the U.S. before the end of the year.

Gary is our senior editor and Bernie works with him editing Spanish materials that have been returned to us from the translators. We are thankful for this faithful couple.

EBI Staff Man the Polls in November

On November 2”d ten of EBI staff members worked at various precincts around our county. This was a special opportunity for us to be involved in a local and national election and to interact with many members of our community. Several of these staff members were able to assist Spanish-speaking voters who needed help with directions. We thank God that we live in a nation where freedom to vote is a right of every citizen.

Women’s Bible Study Books

At this printing we have two Women’s Bible study books ready to go to print, but we do not have funds to complete this project. The cost for producing one book is approximately $4,000. If a church, Sunday school class, or individual would like to help with this project, please send your contribution to Baptist Mid-Missions, 7749 Webster Road, Box 308011, Cleveland, OH 44130-8011, and designate it for the EBI Women’s Bible study books. Thank you for your help in advance!

Christmas With List

Christmas is coming and children everywhere begin making out their wish lists. Many adults to that too! There are several things here at EBI that we would write on such a list. These are not necessities but they would make our jobs easier. These are ideas for any group looking for a special project.

  • Additional computer for accounting (much needed) — $1000
  • Laser printer — $150
  • 2 stainless utility carts — $200 each
  • 2 office chairs — $150 each
